Shae does not know her parents, but was left with the Xinyi monks in Squall's End as a baby. She was a precocious child, eager to learn and help those in her adopted community. Naturally quick, and with a stubborn, driven personality that reminded Aera of her own, the mountain elf Xinyi mystic took on the roll of mother for the young Shae.
Shae met Krawtic, an aarakocra youngster, also an orphan after the accident that both burned down his home and took his parents from him. She immediately set about helping her, and Master Gambol Overbrook, to rebuild the home. Gambol was impressed by this, and with some convincing of Aera, took the young monk under his wing as well.
Shae's temper is similar to Aera's, but through the art of woodworking and other crafts, Gambol taught Shae some restraint. She learned the Path of the Falcon Knight when she chose the martial discipline, training under Master Krick, the aarakocra battlemaster with the crippled wing.
She met with the Finger Gang after being dispatched to search for Hylan, a Xinyi monk who had betrayed the ordered and killed nearly a hundred of their kind. Secretly, Shae sought an artifact that she though might help with a new threat that had recently appeared in the skies above Dominion: Aurillion's Star.
Shae is closest to Heinrich, and has confided in her past the most to him. She has shared with him much about her culture, as Heinrich's curiosity and natural kindness made it easy.
Morwen and Shae get along well, but Shae is occasionally frustrated with the tabaxi's antics. The two are both highly dexterous and capable of staying quick, and frequently scout ahead together. Shae was surprised to learn that Morwen, more than most, could nearly keep up with her on occasion.
Shae and Guntir argue frequently. Neither is especially patient, and both have tempers that are known to flare, though Shae's temper tends to manifest in physical violence. Shae is especially annoyed that Guntir seems to have become quite close to a number of her relatives.
